GROWER RECEIVING & PACKING

Many packer-shippers are automating their receiving docks with FAMOUS software. Receiving is fast and accurate and growers receive proper documentation and maintain a high level of confidence in you, the packer.

Bulk Receiving
Bulk product may arrive in bins or other containers. A grower’ receipt is printed. Bin tags can be printed and affixed for inventory control and automatic scanning when the bin is packed.

Receiving "Field Packed" Product
Some commodities, such as melons, lettuce and other vegetables, are packed in the field as they are harvested. Only cooling is required prior to shipment. FAMOUS receiving prints a grower receipt and pallet tags can be generated and affixed to pallets as they are unloaded and put away.

Packing
Bulk product is washed, graded, sorted and packed. As cartons of finished product are stacked on pallets, a tag is printed and affixed to complete pallets. Bulk and finished product can be matched by run or by grower block and date. Packout reports are immediately available.

Grower Blocks
Grower product is identified by block, which represents a commodity and, optionally, a variety. Growers may have multiple blocks of the same commodity and variety. Packout reporting and grower settlements are by block.

Grower Lots
In addition to block, lots may be used to group grower product. Lots can represent a further breakdown of a grower’s product such as a single receiving or date. Also, lots can represent a product grouping across growers such as a vessel. Packout reporting and liquidations can be by lot making it easy for growers to match deliveries to the packer-shipper with proceeds from sales.
