Famous Software, LLC requires a remote access connection to the database server to resolve problems. Without this connection, Famous is not able to provide essential database support, which could result in the permanent loss of data.
While there are many applications that provide remote access to servers such as PCAnywhere®, Terminal Services® (Remote Desktop), Citrix®, or VNC®, these applications cannot be used by Famous. Famous requires a TCP/IP network connection with administrative privileges to the database server. Once connected, Famous should be able to perform any task that a local client workstation does, such as copying files and connecting to the Famous database.
Microsoft provides the Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS), which allows remote users to connect to a server via a modem or Internet connection. This document offers step-by-step instructions for configuring this service. The steps that are covered in this document are intended only as a guide to the Routing and Remote Access Service. When setting up a VPN, you still need to consult with a qualified Network Technician for assistance with configuring your firewall.
If you have any questions or require assistance with this document, our Network Services Department is available to assist you at (559) 438-3600.
