Famous Attends PMA Meeting with FDA in DCWe feel that it is important for Famous to represent our customers and industry as the PMA and various government agencies develop new traceability policies and procedures. That’s why we have joined the PMA Supply Chain Efficiencies Committee. Among other things, the committee provides guidance and/or recommendations regarding the application of case, pallet, and item level identification and tracking tools including GS1 case/pallet coding standards, GS1 DataBar, standardized UPCs, RFID, and other emerging tools. Doug Rosenfeld, Famous Software’s Product Manager, recently returned from a committee meeting held in Washington, DC where attendees, including high level representatives from the FDA, met to discuss standardized fresh produce attributes, GTIN level definitions, lot sizes, pilot projects, the Food Safety Modernization Act, and related issues.
