JOB DESCRIPTION

Famous Software is revolutionizing information management in the fresh food supply chain. We use a team approach to software development and customer support. You will have the opportunity to work with some of the produce industry's leading Software Product Mangers, Software Developers, Software Engineers, Business Analysts and Database Managers. Together you will create and enhance integrated, world class Oracle/Windows-based supply chain database solutions.

 

This entry level opportunity is appropriate for programming professionals with a solid understanding of contemporary Oracle database technology. Database Administrators work closely with our Software Build Managers, Software Developers and Product Teams to create and maintain large scale database solutions.  It is also a chance to get your foot in the door at a leading California software firm offering enormous long-term career potential.

                                                                                                                          

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

·         Gain and maintain an in-depth knowledge of all Famous Software products

·         Create and maintain multiple Oracle databases using VMWare

·         Assure  database functionality in multiple environments and configurations

·         Participate in the quality control aspects of your creations

·         Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of software, scripts, and release transitions

·         Provide internal, and occasionally external customer support

 

Qualifications/requirements

This is the ideal position for recent computer science graduates or specialists with up to two-years of software engineering experience.  Knowledge of Oracle's database and tools, InstallShield, Java and PowerBuilder will be valuable.   Business-to-business exposure is a definite plus. Experience using Oracle's database and tools, Microsoft Windows, and PowerBuilder in a software development setting are important. In addition, please be prepared to demonstrate your:

 

·         Experience with turning design specifications into working code

·         Proficient written and oral communication skills

·         Familiarity with contemporary software development tools and best practices

·         Ability to learn from your work and from that of others around you

·         Ability to problem solve and generalize what you have learned

·         Motivation and time management skills

·         Willingness to roll up your sleeves in a cooperative team environment

·         Passion for new technologies and attention to detail
